Financial solutions consultant - I work for a company that sells software to banks.  The job covers all areas with lots of travel abroad.  Primary role is for system design, installation and resource training.  There is also an element of sales support for new prospects.

  • I love my job for the five eighteen day breaks I get each year, but that's all. The rest can be rather mundane unless one of the 600psi Steam Boilers trips out.
  • Who said five eighteen day breaks. Just been asked if I'll work 5 shifts in my current break. So I said NO. I'll do two and consider the others. That'll make this one a 12 day one as I've covered some other shifts as well

I'm a mechanical engineer working for the UK's biggest and best aerospace company whose name is defined in the OED as the definition of quality.  ;-)  I am the company global process owner for Tooling and Fixturing, setting global policies and standards and governing them, and conducting manufacturing research and development work through our University Technology Centre and Manufacturing Technology Centre for both of which I am the Company Co-ordinator.

Yes, it's fun and varied and hard work, and yes, it's a great company to work for.  I'm living the dream - on the days the Inbox is empty, anyway!!
