    Hi guys,

Just wondering what motor/battery setup people are running in the ss? I must admit that I favour brushless and in my scratch built saloon run a big 5300mah 2s hardcase lipo/Novak gtb2 esc and hpi 17.5t pro motor.

I'd like to run the same sort of thing in the ss but I've never ran a v12 back end on any car and didn't know if the need the weight of a 4cell to get good grip. Wanted to down size the lipo to a 2000mah but didn't want to be to light!

    Cheers

    Dave

If any help, 4 cell i run soft springs all round.  At Wycombe i ran soft fronts and silver medium's on the back, although usually i would run soft everywhere.

No practice before the meeting so not much time to muck about with the setup.

Hi guys just an update for those who helped with the tips etc. Had 1st run of the VRXSS last night and was very impressed. Had a battery issue the 1st heat due to me over discharging . with a fresh pack the second heat went well, lost the battery tray 3rd heat. need to look into a better more secure method for holding that in, should of known 2 screw wouldnt of been enough!since been told i was ment to put double sided tape under it  aswel lol.l  final heat went well also.

This is my 1st mardave in 14years and im well happy. it out handeled my scratch build from the box and i even beat my best lap score by 3 laps so with fine tuning i should be well away. just had a strange handeling issue, the back end was bouncing out of the corner when power was on, but it was not happening every time??

    anyways heres the pics:

Had contact 50s up front standard springs a contact 32 inside rear and a 35 outside, back end was sliding with 35 on both. Standard rear springs also. It's got a carbon kingpin brace too

    I personally don't use contacts so I can't comment.

I'm not a fan if running different compounds on the rear either. Could you take a photo of your back suspension and email it to me? Allan1875 at virginmedia.com, or post it on here :).

    How was your steering?

I will take a piccy tomorrow, I've left my kit box at work. I had to turn the EPA right down to 30% on the steering, if I'm honest it probably still over steered a bit. Had to correct coming out the corner on the straight. I think it's just a few minor tweaks and then it'll be great. I was wonderndering if I should use a different make 50 compound on the front, been told the contact 50s arnt as hard as others and can cause oversteer

I use a 46 outside front, pink med inside but you could try a jap 50 on the outside front.

Thinking about it one thing I do remeber noticing when the car was coming tomards me out of the corner was the inside wheel was lifting sometimes clean off the carpet does this matter. My scratch build never did this

That will partly be due to the stiffness of the new parts. If its lifting, harden the rear suspension a but at a time.

I also run an offset battery box.

Chris also suggested hardening rear springs. Job for the weekend :-) I have just emailed you a piccy of rear springs as requested.

Thanks for all your help guys
